Monty's Eyes

Donation protected
Meet Monty,  a very affectionate Yorkie who was rescued by the Comber family from a reputable breeder who used him as a stud. He’s 12 dogs years and 69 human years old, and Yorkies have been known to live to about 17 years old. He still acts like a puppy, but now that he is a senior dog he’s rapidly lost his eyesight to 95%.

His Veterinarian has diagnosed him with mature cataracts in both eyes.  You can see the silvery look covering his eyes that has made his vision cloudy and opaque.  It is difficult for him to focus properly as it has decreased his vision tremendously.

A little more about Monty
Because he was used as a stud when he was so young he had absolutely no social skills. He was so timid & afraid he hid under tables & chairs for a long time. It took a while before the Combers were able to hold him or take him on a walk without him shaking like a little leaf. They affectionately named him "Mighty Monty" because he was scared of his own shadow!

Now he thinks he’s a big tuff guy and paws furiously at the rug by the back door if he hears another dog passing by and wants to chase them away no matter how big they are!

Recently he got distracted and tumbled down a set of stairs. Luckily he didn’t get hurt because he knew the terrain as he used to run up and down those stairs several times a day. But he does bump into things when in unfamiliar places.

He loves eggs and will wake from sleep when he hears one being cracked just so he can get his share.  When the Combers come home from running errands, he senses them coming in and rears up on his hind legs and runs in circles with joy!

He also loves to dance with his "Mom"! Lol. He just sits there on her hip while she dances around. As soon as the music gets turned up he's there by her side waiting for a dance.

His Doc says that he is a good candidate for surgery and will be able to have a replacement lens in both eyes. If he doesn't get the surgery it may develop to completely losing his vision and would be similar to looking through several sheets of wax paper.

We just know it would be a new lease on life for him to be able to see his human family again, to not bump into things and actually SEE the big dogs he’s trying to chase away.

His surgery, follow up treatment and medications will cost $4,000.00 CND

We are so grateful for your support and any amount you can afford will help this little fellow out. We would love to see Monty's future to be bright, full and vibrant like the puppy that lives inside him.

We also would be so grateful if you could help get the word out by sharing this with your Facebook Timeline.
