Monica's Procedure

I humbly come to everyone for help.
At the age of 25, my sister, Monica, was diagnosed with a benign (non-cancerous) tumor located on the frontal lobe of her brain. The doctor was only able to remove some of the tumor since it was attached to an active artery. In 2001, another MRI showed that more tumor was needed to be removed and surgery was performed again. Unfortunately, they were still not able to remove the entire tumor which potentially meant that she would need surgery again.
Over the next 20 years she was kept under the supervision of doctors with yearly MRIs. Now, at the age of 45, an MRI showed that the tumor had not only grown in the frontal lobe but that smaller tumors had grown throughout the rest of her brain. Furthermore, the original tumor had cut off the blood supply to the artery it was originally attached to in the first surgery. Monica had consulted with doctors and surgery would be needed. This surgery would be more complex due to the removal of the dead artery and the new and old tumors. Regardless, she was confident and optimistic to pull through this time like she did the other two times.
January 2, 2020, Monica went back into surgery. When the surgery was finished, the doctors were sure that it had gone as planned. We waited for her to wake up from the anesthesia but she didn’t. An MRI had revealed that Monica had suffered a stroke during surgery. They closely monitored her over night, and in the morning we were notified that Monica’s brain had swelled so much that she went into a coma. It was necessary for Monica to go back into surgery for a craniotomy in order to release the pressure on her brain. After surgery, she was put into an induced coma.
The doctors explained that if Monica comes out of this, she will suffer some sort of damage to her brain, or worse, an irreversible coma (brain death). On Friday, January 10, the swelling will have gone down enough to perform an MRI to determine the extent of the damage. We are putting our full faith and trust in our Savior and we know that He is in control. We are hopeful that she will pull out of this the same as the previous two times.
I set up this page because we don’t know what’s to come financially. I just want to relieve as much of the suffering as possible for Monica and family. Any amount would be greatly appreciated, but more importantly we ask you to keep her in your prayers.

En 2001, otra resonancia magnética mostró que se necesitaba extirpar más tumor y se volvió a realizar la cirugía. Desafortunadamente, todavía no pudieron extirpar todo el tumor, lo que potencialmente significaba que necesitaría cirugía nuevamente.
Durante los siguientes 20 años fue mantenida bajo la supervisión de médicos con resonancias magnéticas anuales. Estamos poniendo toda nuestra fe y confianza en nuestro Salvador y sabemos que Él tiene el control. Tenemos la esperanza de que ella saldrá de esto igual que las dos veces anteriores.
