September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Each year, over 800 children in Australia and 163,000 children worldwide are diagnosed with cancer.
In July 2015, our beautiful daughter Bridgette, was one of those children. She was diagnosed with Leukaemia when she was 8 years old. We did not really think children got cancer at the very least we didn't think it would happen to our child. We are so grateful to the amazing pediatric oncologists at Monash Children's Cancer Centre who have dedicated their talents to saving children like our daughter and we want to raise money to support them in their research to find further cures.
Unfortunately there are still many children's cancers that cannot be cured. Funding for research is desperately needed. Bridgette and our family have been devastated by the loss of children we have met on this journey and Bridgette has asked me to start this campaign for the month of September to raise money for the Monash Children's Cancer Centre in order to conduct the necessary research to prevent more children dying from cancer.
Bridgette will donate this money to the cancer centre at the end of September when she has her last dose of chemotherapy.
Any donation, even a small amount, will go a long way towards helping fund research at the Monash Children's Cancer Centre.
