I became aware of the evacuation and attempted to find her while in North Carolina. She didn't have her cell phone and was unable to contact me. She spent the night of the 8th in her car because she couldn't find a hotel with vacancy. I frantically reached out to social media (thank you friends!) to help find her and we finally connected the night of the 9th. That is when I learned of how her evacuation transpired. I had to share the news with her that her home was gone. Now, all she has are the clothes she was wearing, her car, and her wallet.
The funds raised will immediately go towards short term accommodations, travel to North Carolina where she can be with me, Brien and her granddaughter, and medications/doctor visits her insurance can't assist with. Long term, the funds will help her in rebuilding her life and new home.
Anything you can spare to help her rebuild we will forever be grateful for. There are many in need right now and we recognize how lucky we are if you are able to help her.
Thank you for your kindness,
