Molly's Story

Spende geschützt
Meet Molly, a 9yo staffie with a beautiful, loyal nature. Molly's person is 93years old. He adopted Molly from the Hahndorf Animal Shelter 7years ago and he says that Molly chose him. From the second he took her for a walk at the shelter, he knew Molly was meant to be his and they were going to start a wonderful adventure together.

After his wife died in 2011, Molly was his reason to keep going. She has been with him 24/7 since then, saying she was his absolute everything. Without her, he wouldn't be sure he would have a reason to live. He walked her twice a day, every day, took her to spend time at a local community center where she loved meeting everyone and helping him feed and care for the chickens, and their favourite past time was sitting together on the verandah, watching the world pass by.

Tragically on Janurary 19th, Molly managed to slip her lead and ran onto the road and was hit by a car. She was taken to the vet who referred her to a specialist. She was found to be completely paralysed in her left front leg and partially paralysed in both hind legs, however did have deep pain sensation and there was significant hope she would continue to improve and make a full recovery (providing the front left leg was amputated, in due course) with weeks of intense physiotherapy, medication and round the clock care.

She remained in specialist care (where she received absolutely impeccable round the clock care by a team of beautiful vets and nurses) for 5 days before coming back to her local vet for the remainder of her care. She was making huge amounts of progress.

Her person came in to visit her twice a day, every day, and they even both fell asleep in the consult room together for a few hours during one of the visits.

The vet took her home over Australia Day longweekend to ensure she still had round the clock care and was very impressed with how well she was doing.

Tragically, on transporting Molly back to the clinic (4minute drive), she suspectedly threw a clot into her brain and sadly had died on arrival at the clinic. Extensive CRP was performed but she was unable to be revived.

The local vets have covered and absorbed all their costs for Molly for whilst she was in their care, however her person had already spent a significantly large amount at the specialists. He always said he wouldn't ever spare a cent if it were to help Molly.

In order to pay for Molly's care, her person emptied his own funeral fund as well as his normal account. Since losing Molly, he has felt incredibly lost and lonely. He misses her terribly and finds it hard to have a reason to keep going.

Having spent a lot of time with him, his story is amazing, 7 years off a century of knowledge and tales.

Whilst this will not bring Molly back, we just want him to not have to stress financially and to know he has people  on his side, who are there wanting to support him.
