Molly's Project- Mayan Families

Tax deductible
Mayan Families is based in the rural highlands of Guatemala. Most men work as day-laborers, finding work wherever possible. The main sources of income are agriculture, construction, and selling traditional clothing. Most women are unable to read or write and typically work in the household taking care of the children. The average family size of our clients is 6.5. Women also typically work weaving traditional clothing or in the agricultural fields. The staple in the Guatemalan diet is tortillas. Every meal includes tortillas. Most families are only able to afford tortillas, beans, and eggs to eat. This does not provide the essential micronutrients for children's immune and cognitive systems to grow healthy and strong.

Also children in rural Guatemala often grow up in very small homes, sharing a small amount of space with four our more siblings. This means they are often unable to buy soccer balls or proper soccer equipment. Soccer is a national passtime in Guatemala and any supplies would bring a child and all of their siblings lots of joy. It will also provide a great way to build community, exercise, and get away from daily life struggles.

Any donation would help! Thanks so much!
