Moe's TCW Fundraiser

I've recently been admitted into the 2022 Teacher Certification Workshop (TCW) with the Society of American Fight Directors (SAFD)!!! I'm so excited!! I've been working towards this goal since the first time I picked up a sword in 2005. 17 years later, I'm here, it's coming up fast, and it costs a pretty penny y'all...

 

 Let's take a look: 

• Deposit: $300 (due May 30th)
• Tuition: $3,525 (due July 17th) 
• Room: about $1,000 - 1,500

This doesn't include food for three weeks and transportation to Ruston, LA and I'm already looking at a total of about $5,000. 

What is the TCW you ask? The Teacher Certification Workshop is "an intense testing and assessment program towards certification as a teacher of stage combat by the SAFD." (safd.org) The TCW generally runs every other year and only eight candidates are chosen to participate in each round. Needless to say, the competition is fierce; many of us apply more than once before we are accepted! This year's Teacher Certification Workshop is taking place from July 17th - August 6th.

 

Becoming a CT will open quite a few exciting doors for me and my career. It will also allow me to teach weapon certification courses to train & certify performers in any of the 8 weapons skills offered by the SAFD. Pretty friggin' cool, right?! I'm honored to be chosen to help train the next generation of stage combatants! 

 

Like many performing artists, my life & livelihood was completely devastated by the pandemic, and I'm still putting things back together. So! This is where YOU come in, dear friend. Truly, the only way I've made it to this moment is with a little help from my friends.
