Mocha's Lifesaving Surgery for Pyothorax
Hello all. I wanted to share a story about my girlfriend Natasha's beloved dog, Mocha. Mocha is one of the most important beings in her life and he truly means the world to her.
Mocha is a 12 year-old Rough Collie who has recently moved to Grafton, MA from the Bay Area as his mother is currently attending vet school. He was unexpectedly diagnosed with pyothorax (infection in the chest cavity) and will have to go through surgery that will remove a lung lobe and hopefully eradicate the infection and lead him to a path of recovery. Mocha is currently at a very critical stage of survival. The doctors are still unsure as it what is the source of infection.
As Natasha is currently a full time vet student, it has been difficult to come up with the expenses of Mocha's medical treatments and health issues. This unexpected health condition has placed a huge financial and emotional burden upon her. In order to hopefully get Mocha back into a safe recovery, any donation or support is greatly appreciated and truly helpful in this stressful situation.

Hey everyone,
Mocha is the light of my life and seeing him immobile, lying barely responsive has absolutely frightened me. He has always been a gentle, mellow soul seeking my love but never selfishly expecting attention. The onset of his symptoms occurred in less than 24 hours. I have spent as much time as I possibly can in the hospital as he goes through numerous diagnostic tests (CT scans, bloodwork, fluids, ultrasound) and surgery. I am terrified as to how aggressive the pneumonia has affected his lungs which is why the surgery is an absolute necessity at this point. Mocha's toughest journey will be the post-op recovery. I also want to share that Mocha's birthday is this coming Sunday, November 19. I wish that such a time was filled only with joy and celebration, but now all my energy is focused on bringing Mocha home healthy. Even if you are unable to donate, your good thoughts and prayers for him are much appreciated.
