Help Krystal Fight Breast Cancer

Krystal was diagnosed with Stage III Invasive Breast Cancer as well as Ductal Carcinoma in situ at age 33. It’s been a roller coaster since, and she needs our help!
Krystal is such a bright light in our community! She’s the kind of woman who truly shows up for the people in her life with her presence, support, and love.
With this page, we’re hoping to raise enough money to allow her to get all of the treatment she needs for her complicated case (with still many unknown factors) and to continue to focus on her healing as she goes through them, without having to worry about how to finance it all, on top of everything else.
She's already had two surgeries but they were unsuccessful, so she needed more help to beat this. She is not a candidate for traditional Chemotherapy here in Canada given the biology of her tumors, so, in exploring other options, she decided on a center in the US that she believes will give her the best chance at beating this; however, none of those private expenses are covered, unfortunately.
The money will go towards the things that no Insurance covers:
- Fertility preservation (the treatments affect this)
- Tests and treatments that are needed but not available in Canada
- Supporting treatments to help minimize and manage the effects of conventional treatments
- Living costs as she continues to go through the treatment and healing process
As one of her best friends, I've watched her face some of the hardest challenges life can throw at someone, all back to back over the last couple years - losing a step-father to cancer, debilitating injury, unexpected financial loss during a larger company restructure effort that happened shortly after she was diagnosed etc. etc. - and on top of that she's faced with healing cancer. Although she manages to push through with high spirits, it’s not an easy journey and it’s times like this where it takes a village to get to the other side.
Having been by her side every step of the way so far, I will say that I’ve been so impressed by her positivity, humour, compassion, and strength throughout all of it. Even though I (read: we all) know she's a powerhouse and will do what it takes to work through this, without working or receiving benefits during this time and with medical bills stacking up, now more than ever she needs our help and support to get through.
We are beyond grateful for any contribution amount you can make and/or any sharing of this campaign you can help with! A little goes a long way with something like this.
