Lend A Helping Hand

This time of year always brings many requests for help and assistance.  Covid has destroyed so many lives on many levels.  It has taken not only lives, but jobs, financial stability, homes, food, shelter and so much more.

My friend, who wishes to remain anonymous, is being hit in a big financial way.  She is a single mom with a small child who has special needs.  She is a small business owner struggling to grow her business and to make all the ends meet.  She is a very talented woman and has tried to tap into other income streams and resources- but keeps hitting a brick wall.  She is not one to ask for help either, but her current situation has created a need for her to ask.  This is a hard thing for her and the struggle is real- the bills are about to not be paid and this includes the mortgage, utilities and even groceries.

This request to help my friend runs deep.  You see, we needed help earlier this year and it was also the hardest thing for me to reach out to my online community to ask for help.  To show the vulnerability and the risk of being judged or pitied, but God gave me the courage and strength and the wisdom to be weak and to allow others to love on us and bless us.  I still tear up thinking about all of the messages of concern and genuine support- and from complete strangers.  The number of people willing to purchase a tshirt to help us raise the money in the time of crisis for us.  No, it was not the end of the world, but it was a huge storm for us and it was coming on the tail of other big things and it literally just whipped us.

The compassion shown to us is what I want to also show my friend.  There are great people out there.  There are huge ways to give to others and you never have to know them- just show them that someone cares about them.  Yes, there are families in greater need than this friend for sure- but I have watched this woman over the last year dig in with true grit and desire to rise up and do all the things- only to be slapped right now with all of this struggle and right at the holidays.  She deserves to win, she deserves to be seen, she deserves to have help right now.

Her daughter deserves to have a visit from Santa and they deserve to be able to celebrate the Christmas season and all that it means.  They deserve to stay in their home she has worked so hard to have.  They deserve to have food in the house and the lights on and to have a warm place to stay.  She doesn't deserve to lose it all because Covid changed everything for everyone.

While the goal listed is $5000, any amount will help this friend and her daughter.  If you don't want to give here, feel free to reach out to me via Facebook Messenger at Calinda Haddock Locklear and let me know how you can help.  Gift cards are also welcome.   I know many of you are struggling now as well, so pray on this request, share it with others that can also help, do as you are led.

The requested funds and gifts will be used to help get them through the financial process right now to avoid losing a home, paying utilities, buying groceries or providing meals, gifts for Christmas, etc.

I thank you in advance for your consideration with this request.  We have been blessed by many and we just want to pay things forward as God leads our journey.  This friend is legit and needs our help.  God Bless and Merry Christmas to all!
