Carlie Baca Medical Fund

Donation protected
Carlie's friends are raising money for her medical fund. Type 1 Diabetes is a life-threatening disease, not to mention a very expensive one. If you could help by donating even a small amount to her medical fund this would help her with her diabetes supplies and insulin and most importantly help her afford a continuous glucose monitor that will alarm when her blood sugar goes dangerously low and it quite literally could save her life. So please donate and please pass on this site to others who might be willing to help financially.

My son has Type 1 Diabetes and we have good insurance like Carlie, but we pay $600-$800 out of pocket every  month. The Dexcom device is $1,600 a year and a weekly (yes, weekly) sensor is $85. It's worth every penny.

After borrowing a Dexcom (continuous glucose monitor) from her doctor's office, it alarmed and woke her up at 3:00 in the morning. She has something called hypoglycemic unawareness, she can't feel lows when she is asleep. If this had not alarmed and woke her up her blood sugar could have continued going down until she began to seize and go into a coma and even die. This process can start around 40, so you can see how important this little device is.
