Ruby's Surgery Fund

We adopted our Yorkie puppy, Ruby, at 2 months old. She is the furry love of our lives and the best pup that we could have ever hoped for.



We noticed changes in her spunky, playful personality more often that we liked and became concerned. After a few trips to the vet, she was tested and diagnosed with a congenital liver shunt. In the womb, her mother's liver was filtering toxins and when she was born, her liver never transitioned into working properly within her own body. When she consumes food or drink, toxins are bypassing her liver and going directly into her blood stream. When she is having an episode, she gets the wobbles and looks as if she is drunk.


Without treatment, her liver will continue to shrink in size because of lack of use and blood flow and will stop functioning. Medication will only alleviate the pain and "wobbles" but allow her liver to slowly shut down, shortening her life span. We have been told that surgery is the only way to fix the shunt and have a fully functioning liver for our little girl. At 5 months old, we want a great life for Ruby more than anything. I can't imagine telling the vet that we won't or can't have her surgery done. She is our furchild and a part of our little family. We only want what's best for her and can only hope and pray that you can help us out with little Ruba's big surgery.
