Bringing HOME to Global
Filipino Migrant Communities
www.mjcpresents.events
For the over $20B remitted yearly into the Philippine economy, overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) are now hailed as the “new heroes.” The hidden reality, however, is that life for an OFW is hard and lonely.
He labors alone in a strange land to support the family he left behind. He is uprooted from everything familiar. Displacement and isolation chip away at his emotional bond with homeland and community and threaten his personal sense of security and stability.
He aches for home but as a provider, coming home is rarely an option.
MJC Presents, Inc. (MPI) is working to bring “home” to millions of overseas Filipino workers (OFW) and the rest of Filipino migrant communnites in the world, through events that are designed to entertain, educate, and reconnect them with each other, their community, and the homeland.
It packages these events into veritable “cultural treasure chests” that can be cost-effectively re-staged in or live-streamed to Filipino diasporic communities in the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Europe, and North America.
Taginting (Resonance): Southeast Asian and Spanish Strains in Philippine Music is MPI's maiden offering. It is an interdisciplinary collaboration among Filipino and non-Filipino talents illustrating the musical legacy in the Philippines of Southeast Asia, Spain, and the Americas.
Taginting is set to open in the San Francisco Bay Area on June 17, 2017. Simultaneously, it will be streamed live to Filipino audiences in Riyadh, Jeddah, and Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia.
As MPI Founder and Executive Director, I am asking YOU to invest with me by giving to this campaign.
Your donation will help defray pre and post production costs such as talent fees, venue rental, promotion, travel, and documentation.
If you are inclined to give generously, check out our three gift suggestions with rewards. But, any amount will certainly make a huge difference!
