Family & Burial fund for Mitchell Matthews

Mitchell passed away Monday, January 15th, 2024, at about 1:20 AM. His wife and son were by his side.

My name is Deborah Washington. Mitchell is my cousin. His wife, Lisa, and children Tatiana and Sageous have been at the Hospital since January 3, 2024.

Mitchell has been battling cancer for 5 years. He has Non Hodgkins lymphoma and is treatment resistant. That means when they attempted to do chemo, his body rejected it, and it damaged his heart. This caused heart attacks and a host of other issues.

Mitchell, before all the cancer began to eat away at him, provided for his family. He is also a firefighter for San Jacinto County Station 12. He was the safety officer for the northern end of the county until he changed departments. He did this because he loves people. Everything was as a volunteer, but he took classes to do what he did in order to provide the best care possible.

Fast-forward to the 3rd of January this year. He had a massive heart attack and stroke and was rewarded with a helicopter ride to the hospital. He has undergone several tests and procedures since that day. When he arrived, he was still talking and communicating. Now he is under sedation. They discovered he has had several strokes and brain bleeds along with numerous heart attacks prior to arriving at the hospital. He has a blockage in his heart of 70% in one artery, and the other has a 3.5 mm mass with an infection. His brain has 3 bleeds as well as other leaches.

Needless to say, his battle is nowhere near over. He is having open heart surgery on the 15th. When they eventually bring him out of sedation, they will be able to determine what cognitive abilities or lack thereof he still has.

Lisa needs our help. She has not been able to work since he was lifeflighted. She has been here nearly every minute since with only small trips home. She has a mountain of bills, both medical and simple living expenses that need to be addressed.

If you could help in any way, she would be so very grateful. Prayer, financial, everything makes a difference.

Thank you.
