Mitchell Home Disaster Relief Fund
Cyndi and Mike Mitchell are dear, long time friends of mine and wonderful people. They had a terrible disaster at their home in North Carolina last night. As they were watching TV in their living room, a large tree fell on top of them destroying their home and injuring both of them. Cyndi suffered a laceration to a large part of her leg after being thrown from her couch and falling through glass to the ground. Mike was pinned under the tree in his chair for hours until the amazing Firemen and First Responders were able to rescue him. Their grandson Mikey was in his bedroom and tree branches came through his room while he was in the room. Somehow he came out unharmed but very frightened as he watched the ceiling fall down. He was a big boy and very helpful to Cyndi she has told me. Mikey ran and got the neighbors to help his Nana and Papa. Cyndi was taken to Lake Norman Hospital and Mike was taken to Charlotte Medical Center. Cyndi is home now recuperating unable to walk. Mike is still in the hospital. Lucky to have no broken bones, but many cuts and bruises and bleeding in his brain so they are keeping him for observation. Both Cyndi and Mike are unable to work and will not have a home for quite some time. For now they will need emergency funds for a place to stay. They will also need food and clothing for the entire family. The home is being looked at by their insurance company so we won't know exact damages or how long that will take to rebuild. Even in the best case, I would estimate at least 6-12mos. Both Cyndi and Mike are unable to work so there will be a tremendous loss of income. I have a goal of $5000.00 but I have a feeling it will be much higher. I will send updates as I am able. Please find it in your heart to give as little or as much as you can. Every amount will help them. I cannot be with them in North Carolina but I can help raise funds so they can get their family back on their feet after this frightful experience.
