Healing for Bek

Donation protected
Bek Sauvan is a beautiful human.  She has a steadfast faith to God.  She is incredibly loyal to her husband Addison, her friends and family.  She is an immensely talented photographer.  She is encouraging, fun, honest, talented, and compassionate.  She is a fantastic wife, daughter, aunt, sister, and friend. Bek has also been chronically and debilitatingly ill for as long as I've known her.

In one month Bek will be undergoing a 2-week treatment at the Hansa Center in Wichita, KS which specializes in tick-borne illnesses.  The Hansa Group has a high success rate and this treatment can bring a massive amount of healing to Bek's debilitating health conditions. Bek & Addison have maintained incredible faith in God to heal her and feel strongly that He is leading them to this treatment.  Whether you know Bek & Addison or not, I urge you to read their story below.

We are looking to raise $12,500 to fund Bek's treatment at the Hansa Center for Optimal Health.  Treatment will begin ~May 13.  On behalf of the Sauvans, I would like to humbly ask you to consider giving to help fund the costs of this treatment.

--Bek's Story--

Bek has been suffering from headaches since childhood. Over the years they’ve become more frequent and severe. By middle school, she had to be homeschooled, and by age 16, the migraines came and never left. She hasn’t had a day without a migraine in nearly 12 years.

Over that time, she’s developed other conditions and symptoms that we’ve come to learn are most likely intertwined in some form or fashion with her headaches- the problem is, no one can figure out why. We’ve visited somewhere in the ballpark of 50 specialists and tried far higher a number of medications and treatments, all to no avail and a sicker Bek.

A few years ago, we started focusing our efforts on holistic treatments, instead of traditional medicines, as well as exploring more obscure diseases/illnesses with doctors (mold exposure, parasites… you name it, we’ve been open to hearing about it and trying to treat for it). This past November, she tested positive for two tick-born illnesses. Her two “co-infections”, as they’re called, usually go hand in hand with Lyme (Lyme itself, as we understand it, can be particularly hard to catch). As we’ve researched further, it’s become somewhat of an “aha!” experience - “why haven’t we ever tested for this before?!” She grew up in the country and has had her fair share of ticks. This diagnosis casts a wide net - it’s been shocking to see how her chronic pain and often random symptoms connect and intertwine. It also sheds light on why she’s been misdiagnosed with so many other things - Lyme and co-infections have a tendency to be “great mimickers” of other diseases.

Most of our marriage, Bek and I have been working as full time wedding photographers. This year, after nearly 8 years in business together, we were forced to stop booking because of Bek’s health. I took on a full time position with a production company last August to allow her the freedom to focus on healing.

Recently we made a new friend and learned of her diagnosis of chronic Lyme disease. In September of 2018, she spent two weeks at a holistic clinic in Wichita, KS called The Hansa Group. She has completely gotten her life back. Since hearing her story, we’ve read of so many amazing testimonies of healing coming from patients of this clinic. We are anxious to get Bek there as soon as possible!

The Hansa Group specialize in chronic illness sufferers and are enthusiastic about taking on other doctors’ “rejects” so-to-speak. The program is a 9 to 5, Monday thru Friday job-like schedule full of treatments, doctors visits, and more treatments. It’s a team of like minded doctors that have had what sounds like an outstandingly high success rate in helping treat the un-treatable. People come from all over the world for them - it’s quite incredible that they’re only 3 hours away from where we live in Lawrence.

Being a holistic thinking group, they’re outside of any insurance network. That concept isn’t foreign to us, but the expense, as you can imagine, is fairly intense for 10 full days of treatment. The plan is to take Bek for two weeks (their recommended initial protocol), staying in the area so she can receive treatment every day. Apart from the $9500 for the program, we have travel expenses, bloodwork, and medication costs to cover. They also recommend a follow up visit anywhere from 2-4 months after leaving (an additional expense), usually lasting another 3-5 days depending on what they find and how she responds to treatment.

It’s 9:30pm. As I type, my gal has spent the entire day in our blacked out bedroom with ice packs and pain meds trying to ride out the pain. I woke up to her in tears this morning, crying out for help and writhing in pain. This is her norm more often than not nowadays. Functional days are far and few between for her. It is our desperate hope that Hansa will have important insight for us as to why her days are spent like this and finally give her body the tools and support it needs to begin healing.

God has been faithful and gracious year after year to provide for us and for Bek’s health. To those that have given to us, thank you. To those that pray for us and encourage us, many of you daily, thank you. To those who have no idea who we are, thank you for listening. My hope is that we will one day have a testimony of healing to share with the many folks we’ve encountered over the years… one about a time in our lives where we couldn’t do anything but trust God and take one step at a time. Thank you for taking the time to read our story and thank you for considering helping us with this next step.
