Miss Sullivan to Uganda- LRTT

Donation protected
Hi! My name is Amanda Sullivan, commonly referred to as Miss Sullivan. I have been accepted as a fellow with Limited Resource Teacher Training, (LRTT) in Uganda this summer! I have been teaching at the elementary level for seven years and early childhood for two years in two different urban districts in the United States. I am currently a Third Grade Teacher at an all Girls School in Washington D.C.  Over the years, I have learned a lot about what it takes to motivate and engage students. This summer I have the opportunity to be part of a greater movement to provide professional development to teachers in Uganda. LRTT aims to provide all students with a great teacher and I can't wait to jump right in! When I received the call that I was going to get an interview with LRTT I had tears in my eyes. I didn't know how much I wanted to be a part of this program until that moment.

Instead of taking the summer "off," I will embark on a 22 hour journey from Washington D.C to Entebbe, Uganda on July 1.  While in Uganda, I will work with various schools to observe and coach Ugandan teachers until July 30. I will have the privilige to collaborate with a team of 25 educators from around the world to plan, design and lead workshops with little to no technology! Simply, a Chalkboard and Chalk? Yikes! This opportunity will make me a better teacher and leader, so that I too, can continue to have a postive impact on my students. I know that I will come back to the states with a plethora of new and creative ideas to inspire academic growth in my girls!

I will stay in a Lodge where electricty is scarce and no hot water! This will be a challenge, but I am ready to take it on to be a part of a program that empowers teachers around the world!

This program is not free and this is where I will need a little help!

Please support me so I can continue to grow as an educator and help ensure that every student, no matter where they live, has a well qualified teacher!
