Miss Jo Anne's Long Term Care Fund

Hi, my name is Samantha, loving daughter of a caring and kind mother, Miss Jo Anne, who is a cherished friend of the Hinsdale Central community for nearly 20 years, and a great friend to many others throughout her life. She is always there for anyone in need of a lending ear whether it is to talk about the weather or something personal going on in their life. She is always there with a big smile on her face.

After receiving the phone call at work from my mother around 3pm on Thursday, May 13th of 2021, would be the beginning of a life altering change for both my mother and I. Unfortunate turn of events has caused my mother's mental and physical health to decline rather rapidly. She has many health issues, but had always managed to be and stay an independent person until a combination of an UTI and a couple meds caused her mental state to decline, having sped up her dementia. Now she needs around the clock help with even the mundane tasks such as getting up, walking, doing basic chores, even having a normal conversation. It is terrifying to know how one's life can turn upside down so quickly. To add to our problems she fell opening our building door and her eyes rolled so a trip to the hospital where she fell again and got stitches on her head and another fall breaking her shoulder!

The money would be needed as soon as possible as I am uncertain of when and where I will be moving my mother to since I have to find a nursing home with long term 24/7 care. Which also provides help for those with dementia. We don't own a home or have any assets which does not help.

My mother's treatments would include memory care, medications, medical care, speech therapy, and possibly others. The cost of these places are ridiculously expensive. After her insurance paid their share she had to pay the balance which was her whole Social Security check and 1/3 of her pension check. We had to sell her car so we could pay our bills. After 7 months she just came home the day before Thanksgiving so we could count our blessingsI Truly appreciate everyone who has sent us many get well wishes, thoughts, suggestions, ideas, and prayers. Every little bit helps and goes a long way. I thank everyone for their caring generosity to a wonderful person such as my mother. I am sure she will appreciate everything you do to help her out.

Now we need to pay for health care - she cannot be alone so their will be nurses and other people in and out to take care of her while I am at work.
