Minie Stevens Cancer Campaign

Donation protected
As many of you know, our dear friend and family member has been diagnosed with Lymphoma.  This campaign is to help pay for costs related to his treatment.  Minie is travelling to Houston to be treated at world renowned MD Anderson cancer Center in Houston.

On November 30, 2017, Minie Stevens was rushed to the emergency room in Mt. Pleasant Michigan.  Minie had been sick for the previous month with what we thought was a bad cold.  At the emergency room, Minie was given a CAT scan and doctors found numerous tumors in his neck, under his arm, in his abdomen and in his lungs.    The growths in his neck were the size of a golf ball and the mass under his arm was the size of a football.   A few days later, a biopsy was taken and we learned today that he has been diagnosed with a very aggressive form of Lymphoma.  Minie expects to see the Oncologist next week where we will learn how the doctors plan to treat him.

His wife Andrea and son John are doing everything they can to help Minie and make him as comfortable as possible as they wait for additional test results and learn the best course of treatment.  Of course, waiting for test results and for treatment program plans is extremely stressful for Minie, Andrea and John.

We are trying to help Minie, Andrea and John with bills related to travel to and from Houston (where he and Andrea will be staying at Andrea’s sister’s house); medical treatment costs; lost income from Minie once he is no longer able to work and lost income from Andrea’s job after she uses all her personal days.

For those that may not have had the pleasure of meeting Minie, he is an Elder in the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe.  He has worked for the Tribe for over 24 years, in many capacities including the Casino, Museum, and in Maintenance.  He loves his job and the people with whom he works.

Andrea and Minie have been married for 14 years and they were excited to celebrate their 15th Anniversary on December 16.  They had planned a trip to Las Vegas to celebrate their anniversary.  Andrea and Minie have a 14 year old son John, who is autistic.  As you can imagine, this adds an additional level of stress and worry on  Andrea and Minie.  In addition, Minie also has 3 adult children and is the proud and happy Grandpa of 6 lovely grandchildren.

We love Minie and plan on doing everything we can to help Minie and his family through this difficult time.  We understand that not everyone is in a position to contribute money to help out, but please consider adding a kind comment below, or offering some form of assistance, a home cooked meal, or just a shoulder to cry on.

For those of you in a position to contribute, you might consider making a monthly donation as we might be in a long fight and continuing support is the best thing we can do to help Minie, Andrea and John through this awful ordeal.

All Funds received from this fund raising campaign will be directly deposited to Minie and Andrea’s Bank account.  This site is being administered by Jamey Burger, a close friend of Minie Stevens,  and Lisa Page (Gibbins), Andrea’s sister and her husband, Austin Page.
