Leo's Emergency Vet Bills

Donation protected
First, I want to start off by thanking everyone who has been following Leo's journey. We have been overwhelmed by all of the love and support from people we have never even met. Instagram has been an amazing outlet for us to share our struggles and heart-aches and we have been so touched by words of encouragement and even personal stories of dog-friends that have also gone through this battle with IMHA. If you do choose to donate, please leave your instagram handle or email so that we can personally thank you!!

The Story
Leo is a 16-week old Goldendoodle.

On Monday July 30, 2018, Leo didn't wake up at 6:30am sharp as he usually does. When we tried to wake him up for his morning walk, little Leo could not get up or stay standing on his own. We knew something was wrong from there.

Around 4pm that afternoon, we took him to the vet. After running a blood diagnostic on him, his red blood cell levels were too low for the lab technician to even detect. From there he was rushed to the Emergency room.

At the emergency room, Leo was diagnosed with IMHA - immune-mediated hemolytic anemia. It's a disease that rapidly destroys any red blood cells in the body. After a series of testing and ruling out conditions, Leo's doctors' agreed that his last set of puppy vaccines caused his immune system to attack his red blood cells. He was immediately put him on steroids, immunosuppressants, and blood transfusions.

After 3 nights and 2 blood transfusions and tons of steroids, doctors in the ER could not figure out how to stabilize his condition. They urged us to take him to an internal medicine specialist to stabilize his condition.

Right now, Leo is at a hospital that has internal medicine specialists that have tons of experience with IMHA. Though his condition seems to fluctuate by the hour, we are hopeful and rest-assured to know that he's in good hands. We are praying for good news, that he may be able to come home and live a happy and healthy life.

To save Leo's life, we are faced with medical bills that are upwards of $9,000 dollars at this point. Thankfully, we have insurance and while we are still waiting for the company to process our claims, we still need your help to cover a lot of the bill and medication moving forward.

Would you please partner with us to help cover Leo's medical bills? Truly, any amount helps and we would be forever grateful for helping us save Leo's life.

If you do choose to donate, please leave your Instagram handle name so that we can personally thank you.
