Jehn & Ryan Miller

Jehn Miller has been my teaching partner for the past 8 years, and has recently received the devasting news that her husband Ryan has been diagnosed with ALS. He will be celebrating his 40th birthday in February and they have three amazing little boys aged 8, 4 and almost 2. Ryan began to see symptoms in September. By December, he required the use of a cane. In January he required the use of walker. By February he will need a wheelchair. The rate at which he's losing his mobility has been incredibly fast. Seemingly overnight, Jehn has become her husbands primary caregiver, as well as continuing to take care of her three spirited little boys, doing her best to ensure that everyone is well cared for. She cooks and cleans and is responsible for driving everyone around as Ryan is no longer able to. In addition to maintaining her household, she also works part-time as a Grade 2 teacher in a classroom of children with a variety of needs. 

To put it simply, Jehn's time with her husband is running out. There is no cure for this disease and even Ryan's neurologist is worried about how quickly he has deteriorated. In an effort to make the very most of the limited time Jehn and her boys may have with their husband and father, I am hoping to raise $10,000 to relieve some of the pressure that Jehn has day to day in maintaining a household. Funds raised would go towards hiring a cleaning company to maintain and tidy the house once a week, hiring a nanny to assist with driving the boys to lessons and picking up groceries as well as other chores that  she otherwise would have to do. It is a small gesture and to you and I may seem frivolous, but if someone you loved was diagnosed with an incurable disease, wouldn't you rather be spending time with them instead of folding socks and doing laundry? Please give whatever you can to help my amazing, strong and brave friend enjoy every moment she can with all her boys.
