MILES FOR MARILYN

Good Morning. I Would like to take the time to thank SO many of you that have given to this fund. Those of you that know this family know my friend Barb’s story. Many do not, and have given blindly to this family. I am Grateful! Barb has been my good buddy since I either lost (or spent on cigarettes) my bus fare in 1972. In any case Barb whom I just met at a school where I knew (No one) took me to her Mom’s office where her mom gave me the $ to get home from school. So it began. We became fast friends. Over the years we supported each other through many of life’s milestones. In the past few years I have watched her move through some very difficult times that would have been hard on their own. Having her husband and Son both in Afghanistan a trying time for certain. Loosing a brother and sister (very unexpectedly ) at a young age . The passing of her Mom, and finally the loss of her husband who battled lung Cancer for 2 years. When it was discovered Barb’s husband’s illness was terminal, Barb returned to the work force to support the family. To have her Daughter die so unexpectedly is beyond tragic. If you knew her you would marvel at her ability to get out of bed each morning. Barb doesn’t have the option of “folding.” She has a 7 year old grandson to raise. She also to add the cherry to this sundae, is in need of a new place for she and her grandson to live as of October 1st. You see currently she has a 1 bedroom apartment, and will need something more conducive to a permanent home for Miles. Walk a mile in someone else’s shoes? I can’t even imagine part of her journey let alone the latter part. That’s where we come in as a community, to lift those that don’t have the luxury of retirement, vacations, meals out with friends, nice cars, you get the message. There is almost an entire generation of children being raised by Grandparents who wouldn’t have it any other way, but not exactly what they dreamed of after working all those years. So know that your donation will go directly towards the care of Miles. Thank you all for your kindness.
Barb, I never imagined all those years ago when you lent me bus fare to get home that we would be looking for bus fare for Miles, but here we are. A simple kind gesture you paid to me was something I never forgot. You are a wonderful person that has walked a very rough road and So many are willing to extend you their love and support to walk with you and Miles on this leg of the road. May the road become less unpredictable, and kinder to you both. Love You Both!
