Miles for Laura

Hello all!
My name is Jessica Nieters, I am a Senior in high school and I am going to be running Grandma’s Marathon on June 16th. I have been running cross country since my 8th grade year. Running has been something that I have fallen completely and totally in love with, it is something that I don’t think I could live without. It has had such an immense impact on my life. I have one person who I owe this all to, Laura Goedeke

Laura was my summer nanny for my sister and I for 2 summers. Laura was a runner as well and introduced me to cross country sparking my interest and beginning the little fire that turned into my deep love for running. Her impact on my life went way further than just running. She was such a beautiful example to me and the rest of the world, teaching everyone that you can be confident and comfortable with who you are as a person. I could go on and on about all of the amazing memories that we had together.

Laura suffered from bipolar disorder and her life was lost in April 2017 to suicide. This was a very hard time for many people because Laura had impacted so many people around her in such a positive way. Now, I want to continue her positive impact and raise money for the International Bipolar foundation, in her honor. I will be running Grandma’s marathon as my first marathon. I ask that if you are able to, join me in my quest to raise money for the International Bipolar foundations through a donation on this GoFundMe page. The International Bipolar Foundation’s mission is to decrease the stigma around Bipolar disorder, improve treatment through research and to provide resources for caregivers and those suffering from the disease.
