Mike's Life-Saving Transplant

This GoFundMe was created in the hopes of raising money for our dear father, husband, grandpa, brother, uncle, nephew, and friend, Mike Bjers.
Mike suffers from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, or COPD. Over the years it has slowly worn away at him. Mike ran his own flooring company for years and was highly respected and recommended within the community. When the disease became too debilitating for that business, he traded his truck filled with rolls of carpet for a bus to transport adults with special needs. Today, Mike and his wife, Deborah, are the primary caregivers for their 5 grandchildren, and have 2 step children and 5 additional grandchildren in Texas.
Mike is, and has always been, a worker and a giver. He's always done whatever it takes to provide for his family. Now, he needs our help.
Mike desparately needs a double lung transplant in order to save his life. The hospital estimates that even with his current coverage, the outstanding bill will be somewhere around $20,000. Unfortunately, as Mike has been able to work less and less due to his disease (and the resulting bills), this is something he cannot afford on his own.
Now, the issue is that the hospital only has so many viable organs, so they give priority to those whom they feel are best suited for them (meaning, whomever can pay for them). We need to raise this money so that the hospital will place Mike on the transplant list. From there, Mike can get a new set of lungs as well as a new lease on life.
The hospital will review his case next month and they've strongly urged us to do our best to fund these expenses in order to be seriously considered for a transplant. So that means we've got our backs against the wall, and every second counts.
Mike has everything else the hospital is looking for in a transplant candidate: he lives a healthy lifestyle, has a strong support system of caregivers, etc. So we're hoping that this last, crucial piece of the puzzle is something with which you can help.
Any amount helps. $20,000 is a lot of money and we are truly grateful for anything you can do.
Chances are, if you're reading this you probably don't know Mike. And that's a shame. He's one of the kindest, most gentle, loving people in the world. Everything he does is for others. He has raised two sons (one of whom still a teenager) and now is the legal guardian of 5 grandchildren. He never complains, never gets down on himself, and always stays positive.
