Mike's second craniotomy expenses

I'm Chelsea and I'm raising this fundraiser for my boyfriend Mike who was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor and had to undergo surgery to remove it.

This was an unexpected condition that did not arise until the night of 6/7/21 when he had suffered 3 seizures back to back within one hour. I was away with the kids for a visit with my mother out of town and was not home when he had these seizures. Mike says he woke up on the floor that night and does not know how he got there. His doctor says he was in a postictal state and exhausted and confused from the seizures and because of this he did not go to work for the following two days. Unfortunately he was let go from his job due to him not showing up. It seemed like he was feeling better until Saturday when he was found by our 3 year old that he had passed out in the closet not breathing. She came running to me saying, "Dada fell on the floor, he's stuck" and that's where I found him not responsive. I called 911 and turned him on his side and lifted up his head and he finally started breathing again. He was taken to the Medical Center where we found out he had a seizure that was caused by a tumor on the right temporal lobe.

We were transferred from there to Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston where he was scheduled for surgery to remove the brain tumor the next day. After hours into the surgery the doctor comes out to tell me that he's not sure what kind of tumor Mike had, but that it was sticking to a lot of different places in his brain and he could not get all of it out.

We stayed in the hospital a total of 5 days and they sent us home with anti-seizure medications and steroids. We have to wait until July 1st before we get the results of the pathology of the tumor. We do not know what form of treatment he will have to have until we know what kind of tumor it is.

Unfortunately, since Mike was let go from his job, his insurance will be termed and he will be uninsured. We have the option to get cobra, but it's very expensive and now I'm the sole income and we cannot afford $446 a month. We have applied for Medicaid, but I do not know if we will get approved. We do not know what unexpected costs we may have coming, but we've already started receiving hospital bills and other medical bills. I have enough to pay our monthly utilities, but when Mike loses his insurance, I don't know how we'll afford his medications. We have applied for disability, but we don't know yet if we'll get approved.

At this time, any donations that we receive will be used towards gas to get to his appointment in Houston next week, any other miscellaneous expenses that may occur and a jump start on paying some of these medical bills that are coming in. We do not know what the future holds for us, but we will know more in just a few days. We will keep everyone posted and in the meantime if you cannot donate money that is absolutely fine, but if you could donate your time and pray for us and pray for Mike we greatly appreciate it.
