Mike Flint

Almost three years ago Stacy came home to find Mike completely out of it.  He was confused, disoriented and was having severe head pain. Stacy is a 911 dispatcher so she knows the signs of a stroke/heart attack, and rushed him to the emergency room, where they did multiple test, only to find that he has Hypertrophic Cardio Myopathy (HCM), his heart is enlarged, and the risk of this was sudden death.  If he was an athlete he would have already had a heart attack.  The first step for treatment was to install a defibrillator as soon as possible.  The very next day, after the defibrillator was installed, he had Grand Mal seizure.  Medication was given but nothing seemed to be working, every three to four months he was having a seizures.  His whole life was changing and out of his control.  There were mood swings, memory loss, depression, agitation, lethargy, shortness of breath, and chest pain.

Finally after three years, Beaumont could not longer help so they recommended he goes to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.  After meeting with the surgeon he said he could fix Mike, his lower left chamber was completely closing causing his shortness of breath, lethargy and most likely his seizure.  

We want our Mike back, he went from being a 40 year old healthy guy that smiled all the time to a guy who was scared, tired and on twenty different medications.  This surgery will not only change his life, but SAVE his life.

The recovery time is 3-4 months, provided all goes as planned.  He is expected to be off work for this entire time.  

Please, it's time to help a wonderful man who has helped family, friends and strangers.  Lets make this hard time easier and concentrate on getting him back to the healthy Mike we all know and love, there's not anyone more deserving!!
