Mike Strain, one of our warriors, has been horribly injured in a motorcycle accident and needs our help to pay for his office overhead while he tries to heal from a brain injury, broken leg, broken ribs and clavicle.
When I texted Mike's wife Robin about setting up this request for money, here's her text back: "I don't know what to say about a charity fundraiser. Not sure how he will feel about them doing that. Pride you know." And that is Mike to the core. Even in his worst moment of weakness and desperate need for help, his cowboy creed won't allow him to ask for money.
If you know Mike, you don't question that cowboy pride ethic. If you don't know Mike, let me tell you that of all the lawyers to walk into the ring with, I pick Mike. Not because he is the best and brightest but because he will never stop running towards the fight, no matter what happens. When the bombs go off, Mike turns into cowboy mode and starts blasting back with no hesitation. That is something most of the people in this world lack and we need to honor this man and his family with our donations.
I was at the TLC summer program in 1998, served on our Board and have known Mike, his wife and their two kids for 20 years next summer.
Thank you to Gerry Spence and the Spence Trial Lawyers Board to allow this fundraiser for a justice fighter that provided for his family but never accumulated a lot of money. Mike needs help to keep his office afloat and I am hoping that TLC warriors will donate to this fund for the simple reason that we are a tribe and we protect our own.
