I'm not sure how many people know, but our friend Mike has been stricken ill. I have spoken to Mike's wife Teresa, and with her consent, I asked if I can start this fundraiser. During the week of Thanksgiving, Mike was not feeling well. On Saturday November 28th, Mike was taken by ambulance from his home to Yale.
Let me tell you a little about Mike and his family. Mike grew up in West Haven. Throughout his entire life, Mike has faced adversity. When Mike was a little boy, his father was the bus driver for the West Haven Yankees. One night while waiting for the team, Mike's father walked around the bus and was killed by another driver in the parking lot of Quigley Stadium in West Haven.
Mike and Teresa, both suffer from serious medical conditions. Mike battling Lupus and Teresa suffering from MS. Mike and Teresa adopted 3 boys from the Boys and Girls Village in Milford, CT. The two younger boys are siblings and could not be separated. Mike and Teresa decided to adopt 3 children instead of 2. Back in 2008, the Rubino house caught fire. Luckily, everyone was able to get out of the house and they were able to rebuild.
So, how do we know Mike. First, he is from West Haven. Everyone seems to know or know of many people! Mike has been involved in the Public Safety field for many years. He was a member of the Wallingford Auxiliary Police and North Branford Company 3, Volunteer Ambulance Service. Mike has had his Federal Firearm's License and as been a state permit instructor for many, many years. Mike also operates a Firearm's & Uniform Shop in Guilford, CT. Mike is Director of Security at the New Haven Art's and Idea's Festival. Most of all, Mike has been a member of Yale University Security Department and the Yale Community for over 20 year's.
When I first found out about what happened, I asked, what can I do? I was told, that is what everyone is asking but there is nothing to do. BUT PRAY! I said, there is something I and we can do. That is why, I am starting this. If you know Mike, you know is heart is bigger than himself! He has helped many people along the way! I understand times are tough. But if you could help in anyway, PLEASE DO!! LET US HELP MIKE AND HIS FAMILY!!!!!
