Mike Quesenberry Kidney Transplant

Donation protected
Mike Quesenberry will be having a kidney transplant on Friday, August 31 at UVA medical center. His wife, Jeannie, will be the donor.

As friends and patrons of Mike, we would like to show our appreciation for the love and care he has given us over the past three decades through his service at Food Lion. Mike’s ability to make each and every customer feel like family is a testament to how he always shares God’s love with others. It is obvious Mike is invested in his customers, and that people are a passion of his. Mike has touched many lives both as a manager and as a community leader. Our wish is to return a small portion of Mike’s kindness and generosity that he has shown us all over the years. We are asking you to please join us in helping his family pay the overwhelming medical bills they are facing with this kidney transplant.

We have asked his daughter, Brooke, to share some of their family’s journey and what this fundraiser will mean to her:

“Four years ago, my family received the terrifying news that my dad was experiencing kidney failure.  The cause was unknown but the solution was obvious.  My dad needed a kidney transplant.  After about a year the news came that my dad would have to begin taking dialysis treatments until a donor was found.

My dad, Michael Quesenberry, is 52 years old and has lived in the Pulaski County/ Montgomery County area his whole life.  He’s spent the last 31 years working for the same company, Food Lion, and has served in management positions at the Pulaski, Radford, and Fairlawn stores.  Over these years he’s grown to love the customers he serves.  He’s laughed with them, cried with them, and prayed for them.  His employees know him as a strict but fair boss, a jokester, and a friend they can count on.  One of his proudest career moments came a few years ago when he had the opportunity to work with Food Lion Feeds, an organization that provides groceries to families in need.  He and several other Food Lion managers worked together to pack lunches for underprivileged children in Virginia.  Together they broke the world record for most lunches packed in an hour.

My dad has two children my sister, age 17, and me, age 19, and he’s been married to my mom for 30 years as of August 20th.  On August 31st my dad will be receiving what he has jokingly called “the best anniversary present ever”, a kidney transplant with my mom, Jeannie, serving as the donor.  The procedure will take place at UVA hospital and will be done using laparoscopic and robotics technology.  There will be extensive medical bills and both of my parents will be out of work for a significant period of time.  Because of this I ask you to give a donation to a man that has given kindness back to the community his whole life.  Thank you.“
