Mike Poirier - Your Story Matters

As a parent, your worst nightmare is having something happen to your child.  We want to protect them from everything and anyone that would do them harm.  Recently I learned a friend is struggling to come to terms with the horror he lived as a young child.  He was sexually abused for years. He eventually got the courage to tell his mother what her boss' son was doing to him.  Instead of unconditional love and support, Mike’s mother told him to tell no one.  She said that if he did tell, she would leave him and all his friends would find out about it and make fun of him.   This broke my heart. Imagine having your innocence stolen from you and when you turn to the person that is supposed to protect you, she abandons you.   30 years later, Mike has just begun to open up about his struggles and is beginning his long road to recovery.  He is a survivor and his determination to turn his life around is inspiring.  Mike is currently on disability and needs a little help.  He would never ask for financial support, but I want to show him that we do care and we want to help.  Friends will NOT turn their backs. I was moved to start this Go Fund Me for Mike when I heard that he was looking into a 30 day In-Treatment Program but could not afford it.  I have heard so many stories of people suffering in silence until it is too late.  Mike finally has the courage to open up and share his story in hopes of healing and to help others.  I chose this picture of Mike as I feel it represents his fighting spirit to not only survive, but to thrive.  Please consider donating - even the smallest donation helps.  Thank you so much for taking the time to read.  If you can't help financially, then at the very least, reach out to someone who you know is suffering.  It costs nothing to be kind and it can make the world of difference in someone's life - it may even save their life xo
