Mike Blazer's Medical Bills
Donation protected
Our long time friend Mike Blazer has stage four Melanoma, which was misdiagnosed early on as a Keloid (a benign skin lesion). It was fully metastasized by the time it was caught by an Oncologist, who only gave him 6 months to live.
While on a recent vegan cruise, Mike had bent over on the side of his bed to put on one of his shoes. His femur broke in his hands due to a metastasized tumor located in the middle of his bone. He was expedited to a hospital in Puerto Rico, where he received no medical attention for his broken leg for six painful days. With the help of their 25-year-old daughter, they were able to come up with $41,000 to airlift him out of Puerto Rico to Mexico City. There, he underwent surgery to stabilize his broken femur with an external fixator, which is still attached to his femur and outside his leg.
The purpose of this GoFundMe is to help Mike's family with this debt. In addition to this page, Mike’s good friend Chris Honingford will be biking from Seattle, WA to Ashland, OR, promoting this campaign along the way and finishing the journey with a fundraiser golf tournament at Centennial Golf Club. Mike and Chris are long time golf buddies and the local golf community has come together to help this cause.
First and foremost we ask that you keep Mike and his family in your thoughts and prayers. If you are financially capable of making a donation to help them, we would greatly appreciate anything you can contribute. Thank you for your support!
Check this page for daily updates on Mike, the campaign, and Chris’s journey, and if you are interested in participating in the tournament at Centennial reach out for our email and we'll be happy to get in contact.
Thank you!
