Mijas Eagles Rugby Foundation

Hi we are Mijas Eagles Rugby Club formed last August by Gerald Gomis and Roman Corvalan, following a need to have rugby available between Malaga and Marbella areas.

From 8 guys initially by September this had grown to 20 and then by December we had over 40 players.

We were entered into Region 2 by the federation and started our league campaign early January. We won 5 out of our 7 matches which was incredible given we were just thrown together from many nationalities. Some guys with rugby experience some who had never played but the camaraderie soon grew. We had no training ground but used a padel sports area and a 4g football pitch once a week and just made do with bare essentials.

We are working hard with local town halls and others to secure a pitch and a training area but it’s difficult in Spain as football is main sport but there is now recognition of our growth and the sports growth in kids and women’s.

Our request for funding is to help us financially be able to pay for training areas and for equipment , shields and pads and balls etc this would make a significant difference for us and, help bring us to compete and win this league as our intentions are for Region 1!

In addition we are also in the process of forming a ladies team so all support from you is for really good causes.
