Microsoft Office Specialist U.S. National Championship
My name is Kaleb Brien and I am currently a Sophomore at Hononegah Community High School. I have lived in the Rockton, IL area since I was three years old and attended Rockton School District #140 as well. I am interested in Graphic Design and intend to major in it in college.
In the fall of 2022 I took the exam for Microsoft Office 2019 and scored a perfect score! I entered my score into a competition hosted by a company called Certiport. In January I was informed that I was the Illinois State Champion and invited to compete in the National competition in Orlando, FL in June. This was very exciting for me as I entered the same competition under the Adobe track in 2021 and was invited to compete in Dallas, TX. Certiport believes I am the first person to be invited under both Adobe and Microsoft in the competitions 9 year history. Although I didn’t win in Adobe, it was a great experience that I can utilize on college admissions, scholarship applications and my resume in the future. I also hope to do more networking this year with professors from leading universities in my preferred area of study.
I was very grateful to receive a partial sponsorship last year but that same opportunity may not be available to me again this year. While the competition does include meals it doesn’t cover airfare, hotel and many other travel related expenses, for me or my required chaperone. I am creating this campaign to ask for help in funding my trip to Orlando to compete. Thank you for your time and consideration. I hope to make our community proud and bring home the national championship this year!
