Mick Abbey Brain Cancer Fundraiser

Hi, 

My name is Doug Thorne and I have started this page in an effort to raise funds for a very close friend of mine Mick Abbey.  A large number of his  family and friends have also asked if there is anyway they can assist him financially with the upcoming operation, future operations and ongoing care and support. With that in mind I'm hoping this page provides a pathway for those who would like to contribute.

Below is a brief outline of what Mick is facing and how we can support him moving forward -

On the 31st of January 2019 Mick was diagnosed with Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM), a Grade 4 Brain Tumour.This was obviously devastating news for Mick, his wife Ruth, their children, friends and anyone who has had the pleasure of meeting Mick.

Mick underwent his first surgery on the 7th February which removed 95% of the tumour and he then endured 6weeks of radiation/chemotherapy.

The tumour was kept at bay for a period of time but a more recent MRI has shown that the tumour has regrown to a size similiar to that of the original one but in a new position.

Mick is now having a 2nd operation on Thursday 4th July to again remove as much of the tumour as possible. The outcome of the operation is unpredictable but both Mick and his family remain optimistic.

As most of you know, Mick is more family than just a friend. He is one of the most caring, loving, thoughtful, generous and funny people I know. He is now in a position where he needs our support so I ask if you could make a donation (big or small) to help during this difficult time it would be greatly appreciated. The funds will be used to support Mick after his upcoming operation and contribute to any ongoing care/medical expenses.
