Michele's Fierce Battle

In the beginning of October Michele underwent a hysterectomy due to familial history of Ovarian Cancer in addition to finding out prior to surgery she carried the BRCA 1 gene.  Once her hysterectomy was complete, her surgeon informed her that cancer was found in her fallopian tube. With this information, Michele is undergoing additional surgery on Friday October 20th. The surgeon will be removing lymph nodes and her omentum (a covering over the stomach/intestines) At that point they will stage her cancer.  Once Michele is recovered from surgery and able to handle chemotherapy, which they are hoping will take 2 weeks, she will undergo 18 weeks of chemotherapy. Michele, as we all know is deeply humble. I told her she can't get mad at me for reaching out to help  her, because that's exactly what she would do for us. Michele has two beautiful girls, Maddie and JoJo. Maddie is finishing her last year of college and JoJo is a senior in high school with many senior activities ahead. Michele will be out of work for quite sometime and knowing her she will try to work when she can. I know her wonderful colleagues are trying to donate vacation time and with 18 weeks of chemotherapy lets give Michele one less thing to worry about so she can focus on recovery and her fight.
