Support Michael L Martinez Family

Donation protected
Michael L Martinez, age 13, passed away on Christmas morning as a result of complications of cystic fibrosis and his double lung transplant that he had received at the age of 9. It was Michael's wish to pay it forward and be an organ donor. So, late Christmas night, Michael donated his organs to save multiple other lives.  His families unbearable Christmas loss became others Christmas Miracle.

His passing was a surprise, as he and his mother were jovially shopping for Christmas gifts on December 21st... and the next day Michael was fighting for his life.

Through the hope, the love and the millions of prayers, Michael passed away in the early hours of Christmas morning.  We are all devastated at the loss of Michael. Please join me in support for this amazing family in this unbelievable time of need.

At 3:57 am this morning, my heart, my buddy, my partner in crime went to be with his Mary Mom in heaven. It was peaceful and he was surrounded by people who love him. At 10 Pm tonight, he will become someone’s Christmas miracle as he goes to the OR to become a donor. Michael received the gift of life 4 years ago and he didn’t take it lightly. He made it clear to us that he wanted to give back should the time come. Today, we honor his wish. Michael lived his life with his heart wide open and loved bigger than anyone I’ve ever seen. He taught me to love like that and I’ll forever be grateful for the 13 years of happiness, love, laughter and joy he brought to my life. Michael, it was my absolute honor and privilege to be your Mom.

December 25, 2017, Michael Martinez:

On this joyous day I find myself with a heavy heart. At 3:57AM today my 13 year old son Michael passed away. The series of events that led to his passing were not unexpected as he was very very sick and all possible measures were taken to prevent this unfortunate result. The last update of his journey is one of both devastating sadness and unbelievable joy. It was Michael's greatest wish to be able to return the gift that was so graciously given four years ago. We are humbled by his desire to help others and even in his passing he will be able to provide a Christmas Miracle for 2-3 families. He is currently in the process of organ donation and at 10 pm tonight his journey will come to a close with one last selfless gift. This was not our desire to donate but his and his alone. I may find the strength to provide further details but at this time the burden is to great. Take time this day to hug your children. If they are not with you, reach out to them. Let them know they are loved. While i am heartbroken I am also so very proud of my boy. His inner strength and desire to help others defined him in life and continues on. Please respect our privacy and give us some time to grieve. If any help is needed I will not hesitate to reach out. We are surrounded by family and our needs are being met.

Evelyn and I feel that it has been an honor to be your parents and we know that loving arms were awaiting you when you left ours.
