Michael LeShawn Wooten is a 52-year old, fun-loving, joke-telling husband and father of three. This December he will be married for 24 years to his loving wife Joanne (Jo) and his children are Michael Jr. (25 yrs.), Jordan (22 yrs.) and Sydnie (15 yrs.)
On June 12th, which also happened to be his birthday, Michael went in for a basic physical check-up and after informing his primary doctor of symptoms that he was experiencing the doctor recommended that Jo take him to the ER for some testing just as a precautionary measure. Michael had fought brain cancer back in 2017 and had been in remission for 18 months and was enjoying his life to the fullest cancer free. However, the Wootens were devastated to find out on June 12th test results showed that his cancer had returned. The tumor returned to a part of the brain that was inoperable and stage 4.
Michael has been in and out of the hospital since June with numerous complications. He has not been able to return to work since the day the family received the news.
Those who know Michael would vouch that he is not only a doting husband and caring father but the most loyal of friends and a hard-working family man. He has provided for his family for the past 25 years and now it is up to his wife Jo to provide for their family but due to Michael’s illness she has chosen to stay home to care for Michael.
Through this journey the Wootens have kept their battle very private and have tried to fight this cancer beast by themselves. But now during this extremely difficult time they need their village. Family, friends, co-workers, childhood friends, church friends and others have all asked how they can help.
The family needs your support, prayers and funds to help them get through this challenging time. Medical bills are coming in and again anytime they can they would like to be together.
