Our fellow Associate Michael Weston had a sudden heart attack. The EMS arrived in about 8 minutes and immediately began defibrillating Mike's heart. Mike was rushed to Rogers Mercy Hospital. To the surprise of the Doctors Mike survived. The Doctors explained this type of heart attack is referred to as a "Widow Maker".
The Doctors explained they had done all they could for Mike and then transferred Mike to St. Luke's Medical Center the next day in Kansas City, KS, but now they have determined Mike will need a heart transplant and is being moved to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. Mike is responsive to voice commands by wiggling his feet or squeezing the Doctors hand and blinking his eyes. The Doctors do not believe there is any brain damage.
Barbra, Mike's wife is needing assistance with travel and lodging during this very difficult period. Mike and his family need Any donation you can spare immediately. Barbara will use the money for transportation to the Mayo Clinic, medical expenses, lodging, etc. Mike is on life support until a heart transplant can be performed.
