Michael Shields

Our friend and co-worker started experiencing intense heart burn 3 weeks ago.  After many tests and procedures the diagnosis is Stage 4 Esophageal  cancer that has metastasized into other areas of his body including the liver and  some lymph nodes.

His name is Michael Shields though everyone calls him Mikey...he has been married to his wife Connie for 15 years and they have 2 sons, the youngest recently turned 16. They have also endured the loss of their daughter Julia in 2008.  They do have insurance however it is limited coverage and the expenses at this time are just beginning to accumulate. The out of pocket has already surpassed $6,000.00 just for the testing.

Mikey and his family attend church regularly and have complete faith in God and though we don't understand why bad things happen to good people they are facing this with determination, hope and Gods grace.
