Running for Leukaemia

Donation protected
Hi everyone,

My name is Michael and back in 2001, I was diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukaemia at the age of 9. I had a 30% chance of survival. But thanks to a wonderful donor and the best healthcare, I am able to be here today. So to try and give back a little, I will be running the Berlin Marathon on the 26th September to help raise funds to combat this disease, which will be donated to the José Carreras Foundation.

Leukaemia is a horrible disease. It was the most traumatic experience in my life,  and one I am still trying to come to terms with. However I can count myself one of the fortunate ones. I survived, I don't have any severe health problems and I was in the care of amazing doctors, with the newest medicine, and a strong support network of family and friends to help me push through.

But many people aren't this lucky. Some cannot afford the access to the best medicines or doctors. Others are separated from family and friends through the worst time in their lives. And many still die from this disease. But everyone can support a little, and maybe change someones life for the better. The Jose Carreras foundation supports a diverse set of projects across Leukaemia research and treatment, infrastructure projects as well as social projects to help all those suffering from this disease. Any small contribution will make a difference, so please donate.

Michael.
