MICHAEL P. RICHARDS CANCER COSTS
Dear Friends, On 4/2/14, I was diagnosed with Stage 3 Colo-Rectal Cancer at UCLA, underwent Surgery April 2014, Homecare for Surgery, Outpatient Clinic for Surgery, UCLA and Chemotherapy, and the out of pocket costs took my savings. In 2017, I now have additional healthcare costs which I had not budgeted, nor planned for, and I am asking my friends for assistance. I have never had to do this before, but I am still working at UCLA to be able to continue to live in Los Angeles and continue my medical care at UCLA.
My UCLA Cancer Jouney was one that I faced by myself in 2014 with only my UCLA Family to be there for me on all my appointments. I remember in October 2014 after Chemo driving back to my apartment and I had to stop the car many times to get sick. One stop after throwing up, I looked back at a flat tire and having to call Triple A on my phone, then throwing up again, I must have barfed from Westwood to Beverly Hills and finally West Hollywood and called my Oncologist. But it was always coming home to UCLA, my Medical Family, no real close friends, partners, etc., just UCLA that gave me the strength to finish Chemo and my journey back to wellness.
On 12/29/16, at UCLA, with Dr, Christina Ha, and with my wonderful ER Comrade, Marcia Santini, "Clean Colon, no test for five years". Thank you to all my UCLA Family that have supported me in my healthcare jouney, and hopefully, my future financial security. The attached link is my "Love for my UCLA Family and Doctors." Thank you for assisting me with the debt which I have for my Healthcare and depleded savings.
