Mia's Brave the Shave
This my daughter Mia Mawson she is 17 years old, she has been going through a very long journey with her illness since she was 5 years old.
Mia has something called a Multi cystic Craniopharyngioma. It is a tumour that sits on her pituitary gland deep within her brain, a gland they call your master gland of your body. It controls many many things that we all take for granted that make our bodies work natural. This is now damaged from treatment such as operations for decreasing cysts or fluid on the brain right down to radiotherapy, she now daily takes many medications just to maintain her body, to keep it working. Mia bravely so far has had 5 operations and is now going to be embarking on the biggest operation yet.
We unfortunately got the news recently she has quite a large cyst that is now interfering with her optic nerves and has thrown up symptoms of progressive eye problems for her.
So with this in mind Mia wanted to do something worth while. The time has come where she has made the bravest decision to BRAVE THE SHAVE....
Mia was going to donate her hair once she reach 18 yrs old but due to needing another op and they will be having to shave parts of her beautiful long hair anyway, so she wants to do this earlier before she has her operation. Mia wants to cut off her hair as much as possible and donate it to the LITTLE PRINCESS TRUST and then after will be having the rest shaven right down in preparation for her op.
I hope you will all join me in supporting this brave young lady, her thoughtfulness for others over her own situation makes me in awe of her.
Please donate what you can to help her try and reach her target and hopefully more for such a worthy charity that help so many youngsters that go through such tough journeys. Most of us know all girls wear there hair like a crown, so let's help so many wear thier crowns with pride!
