Mia's ongoing medical costs

On Thursday 29th March our beautiful friends Sarah and Tommi were away in Daylesford for a mid week getaway with their two loving rescue pups; Mia a 5 year old ex racing greyhound and Ronnie, a loved up goofy Rottweiler cross. 

They awoke to the unthinkable, Mia was paralysed from her waist down and unable to move. There was no obvious accident that had occurred, no explanation for what had happened. 

Mia was rushed to the emergency vet and underwent a series of scans, and tests to determine the cause of her paralysis. After waiting hours for the results, Sarah and Tommi were given the gut wrenching ultimatum of surgery or euthanasia. A blood clot was found in her back which had ruptured and was pushing on her spinal cord and surgery to remove the clot had to be immediately performed. With no guarantee she would walk again, the surgery was a risk in itself but you do all you can for the ones you love. 

Mia underwent surgery Thursday evening and has made it through okay.  It will still be days before we will find out if she can walk again and use her hind legs. 

With the around the clock monitoring needed and extended stay at the 24/7 vet, along with the surgery Mia's beginning to rack up quite a hefty bill.  I would love to reach out to our extended friends and families to help out in any way we can. I know if this was my own beautiful hound I would be doing everything I can to help him survive. The stress added on from the financial side of things is just something nobody should have to worry about. 

Both Sarah and Tommi are such loving and caring people, they show so much compassion towards animals, giving back in every way they possibly can. They run a successful business bettering peoples lives through fitness and training and I know there are a lot of people out there who would love to help!
