Barney came to us as a very sad and malnourished 17hh thoroughbred. He is my daughter Tegan's world, she saved Barney and in turn he has showered her with all the love a horse can give. He is her heart horse - he never fails to astound me of the love he shows Tegan. He has learnt to trust her with his whole being and her love for him goes without saying. Everyone that knows Tegan and Barney are always full of praise for how well they work together. As you can see by the photos he came to us very thin and over the last two years we have given him everything he has ever needed. You can see by the photos of how Tegan has managed to bring him from a bag of bones to the good looking horse he now is. Unfortunately, a couple of months back he became lame and Tegan's world came crashing down. He needed further investigation, so the vet came out and examined and advised that we take him in for a scintigraphy - to scan his bones to see why he was lame. Of course I have Barney insured for everything so thought that this would not be a problem and put in the claim with our insurance. The results came back and showed that Barney has now developed kissing spine. You can imagine how hard it is for Tegan to hear this about her heart horse. Further to add to our worries the insurance has failed to pay the full amount for the scintigraphy and we now owe £900 to the vets before we even look at the cost of the kissing spine surgery, which is what Barney needs but the insurance refuses to pay as they say it will be a pre- existing condition, even though he has not shown any signs of kissing spine and been perfect under saddle.
Tegan, Barney and I would be forever grateful if you could help us reach our goal which is to get him back on the road to recovery. After everything Barney has been through he deserves nothing but the best, so your donations will help this loving and gentle giant get the best life and all that he deserves.
