Help Mohammed and His Family to Evacuate Gaza!

Dear Friends and Kind Supporters,

My name is Mohammed Mohanna, and I am a fifth-year medical student at Al-Azhar University and a humanitarian worker with World Central Kitchen (WCK). I was on my way to reaching my goals and living my dreams, but the war destroyed everything I was working on.

I dreamed of being a doctor, regardless of all the challenging conditions we face in Gaza due to the unjust blockade; I worked hard throughout my entire life, got an excellent result in high school, applied to medical school, and was on my way to becoming a doctor in a couple of years.

( While I volunteered at Al-Aqsa Hospital )

At the same time, I have always believed in voluntary work, and I excelled in that field. I joined the International Federation of Medical Students in Gaza (IFMSA-Gaza). I looked forward to being elected President of the association in Gaza shortly before the war started.

Since last October, my life has changed like never before. Instead of thinking about my dreams and goals, all I think about now is how to save and provide for my family, which faces unimaginable hardships every second. Our suffering is something that words can't describe; how would I describe the sadness that drowned us after we lost our house, the terror that we felt every time we had to escape to another home, the fear of starvation, diseases, and not to mention the traumatic psychological distress that made our life feel hopeless. The danger is present every second and everywhere.

Even though we faced unimaginable struggles, that didn't prevent me from serving my community but encouraged me further. Therefore, I volunteered in the hospitals in Gaza to help support the medical team with my humble knowledge and skills. Moreover, I am working with WCK to provide meals and food for the people in the Strip. Since working with a humanitarian organization, I somehow had a sense of safety. Still, recently and after the incident that took the lives of 7 of my colleagues, whom I had worked side to side with for months now, I found myself more scared than ever for my life and my family's lives as even humanitarian workers are now a target in Gaza.

We were displaced from our house on the second day of the war. The area of the house was classified as a dangerous area, and the occupation forced us to evacuate it. Following that, we were forced to evacuate our place more than five times, and each time, we were granted another chance at life. Each time, we lost part of our dreams of returning, part of our memories. Because of the sudden evacuation decisions, we lost part of our personal belongings as well until we no longer had anything but our souls. With it, we move from one place to another, and every time, we hope that the displacement will be the last.

On February 2, our residential square (Karama Towers, North Gaza) and apartment were blown entirely up. And with that, all our hopes vanished. We lost the memories and all the effort of my family for many years.

All our memories have become ashes!

Currently, my family and I are displaced in Rafah. We suffer from the risk of death that may befall us every second, the risk of famine due to the limited availability of food and its prices ten times normal, and the risk of losing any member of my family due to continuous and indiscriminate bombing.

All I wish for now is to get out with my family from the circle of constant danger and fear and to complete my education, which stopped without any horizons in Gaza so that one day I can help my family and my people and achieve my dreams.

I humbly reach out to the compassionate souls across the globe, appealing for their support in saving the lives of my beloved family and me. I seek to gather 51,000 dollars to facilitate my family's journey to Egypt. The funds will be transferred to my sister's friend in the US Ritechal- Overland Park Kansas, who will then transfer them to Egypt through the Western Union money transfer service. The money will be paid to HALA Company through a friend. HALA Company is responsible for performing checks and facilitating travel from Gaza.

Breakdown of funds usage:
Evacuation from Gaza: 5000$ x 6 family members = 30,000$
Accommodation in Egypt: $600 x 12 months = $7200
Living expenses for six people in Egypt: $1000 x 12 months = $12000
GoFundMe and transfer fees: 1900$
The prices are a rough estimate based on information from friends, who were able to leave for Egypt.

We sincerely appreciate your time in considering our story. Your donations, regardless of their size, will be managed with utmost transparency for the cause mentioned. Moreover, your involvement in our campaign, whether through sharing or raising awareness, is truly valued.

Your compassionate support would enable me to bring us to safety.
If you have any questions or inquiries, please feel free to reach out to me.

Warm regards from Rafah,
Mohammed Mohanna
