Eric Is Fighting Cancer

Update: Thank you so much everyone for helping fund Eric's campaign! We'll likely be launching a separate website shortly regarding futher assistance for the family. Having been friends with Eric's parents for roughly 15 years, we can't begin to tell you all how grateful everyone is.
My wife and I are starting this campaign on behalf of our friend’s son, Eric.
In the Spring of 2014, Eric began to suffer mysterious ailments. He complained of nausea, and was repeatedly taken to urgent care by his family, where he received numerous misdiagnoses. On Easter Sunday of that year, Eric complained of blurry vision in his right eye, and his parents rushed him to the Quick Care Clinic, which was the only thing open on the holiday. The doctor immediately sent the family to an ER where Eric received a CAT scan. Less than 48 hours later, after a three hour surgery, Eric’s parents were told 99% of a tumor mass had been removed from Eric’s brain stem.
Pathology showed the type of tumor was a pediatric stage three Anaplastic Ependymoma. Subsequent MRI's confirmed that another surgery would be required. This occurred in Los Angeles in the summer of 2014. After additional issues, Eric began a 33 day radiation regimen. The kid sailed right through it and it looked like the danger had passed. He began attending school and scouts after the treatments and his parents began to breathe and feel positive about life.
A November 4th, 2014 MRI showed an additional growth and an additional surgery was required. Eric has had to begin additional chemotherapy. The chemo requires him to be hospitalized and cared for around the clock for at least three, sometimes four days. Sometimes he needs blood transfusions because the chemo just trashes the components in his blood. Sometimes he gets a fever and must be rushed to an ER to be admitted until his counts can come back up. An example of this occurred this past Christmas Eve and the family was in the hospital until New Year’s Eve.
Eric has not complained about his situation. His parents don’t either - because he is alive. He is about 20 pounds underweight, has no hair, no immune system, has to do school work at home and has to stay inside, but he never complains, and is always cracking jokes and making mom and dad laugh.
His parents have drained their financial resources paying hefty amount of copays and deductibles. Each day in the hospital costs roughly 500 dollars out of pocket. Each cycle of chemo is at least a 3 day stay in the hospital. This is on top of numerous other expenses associated with Eric’s care and missed time from work. Our goal with this campaign is to raise $6,250 in order to fund the expenses that the family will have to pay out of pocket in 2015 (after already having paid out of pocket during 2014).
Help with this campaign so Eric can get on with his life and his parents can breathe a sigh of relief.
