autism service dog fundraiser
Aiden Crawford looks like a normal, fun loving, three year old boy. Sadly, he is not. Aiden suffers from the most severe form of autism, called classic autism. In his good moments he can communicate by pointing or taking us to what he wants. He likes to play with toys, watch television, and be outside. In the bad moments he will wander off, have meltdowns and be unable to communicate in any way. He has trouble looking people in the eyes and has extreme difficulty interacting with children and adults. He also has a phobia of people and places. As a family, we rarely leave the house.
Our family would like to help Aiden to learn to cope with his problems and to help him be the happy, fun loving boy he can be. Therapy dogs can take someone like Aiden and help many of their problems. This dog will be able to help aiden with his behavorial problems, find him if he wanders off, help him sleep better and be a companion for him. Our dream for Aiden is thatf a therapy dog will keep him calm in situations that he finds intense and direct his energy in a positive way.
We have chossen to work with 4 PAWS FOR ABILITY in Xenia, Ohio, a non-profit company that provides service dsogs to those in need. They have approved us for a dog and we are moving forward.
