Homeless family needs a car to work

My life long friend Nicki and her three kids are currently homeless, staying with a friend in the middle of nowhere temporarily. Nicki and her daughter both have jobs 45 minutes away but their car just blew up and they have no means to get to and from work or even school at the moment. They are supposed to move into their own apartment March 1st but now without working and a car, they are in jeapordy of being homeless in a shelter or worse - on the streets in Portland oregon. She has no family that are able to help, and I am 3,000 miles away. I am trying to raise money to get her an operating vehicle and enough to pay the deposit and rent on their appartment. Her eldest is missing her senior year of high school at the moment and the younger kids are also out of school until they can move into their place. This is a family who has been through so much, and every time they take a step forward, get knocked down again. My hope is that a few good Samaritans can help get them on their feet, back to work and back in school without worrying about how they will get there or what roadblock they face next. I want her 5 year old to be able to sleep in her own bed (which $$ will also go towards furnishing their place too). I want her 13 year old son to get back to the 8th grade and I want Nicki who was strong enough to leave an abusive relationship to get a bit of peace.
