Jan's living expense fund

Hi, everyone.  I had to think long and hard about doing this. I really, really am independent and don't like asking for stuff like this. But here I am. The last 11 years have caught up with me, and I am putting this out into the universe.  I have been through breast cancer and reconstruction, osteoarthritis and 2 hip replacements, 5 hernia surgeries, open heart surgery, a diagnosis of Fibrillary Glomerulonephritis (a mouthful), a rare kidney disease that turns the fibrils in your kidneys into scar tissue, kidney failure, 2 years of dialysis, and finally a kidney transplant in June of 2013. Through all of that I worked as much as I could, although being self employed as a massage therapist was difficult at times. There were stretches sometimes of 3 to 6 months where I could not work, and it slowly took a toll on what little bank account I had. I sometimes survived with the help of friends. The last year has been difficult. I have had norovirus, and injuries to both of my Achilles tendons, which kept me from working yet again. And since the beginning of this year my business has fallen off dramatically. Although I'm 69 and receive Social Security(it pays my rent), I counted on my business to pay my other bills. Because my insurance changed last year, I accumulated a medical bill of $800,  and am behind on other bills, too. So...I am here asking for a bit of help. If you are feeling generous, anything that you could help with would be  appreciated, even if just $5 or $10. I have set the amount on this page at $1800. If I raised half of that I'd be happy. I'd like to get caught up on my utility bill, too, and have my car worked on to make sure it keeps running. It would definitely relieve the stress I'm feeling right now.
