Mewsic Kitty COVID-19 Relief Fund

Donation protected

Mewsic Kitty Cafe is approaching our 2nd anniversary at the end of April. Since then, we have adopted out over 200 kitties into loving forever families. We are immensely grateful and proud for the work we do and appreciative of the community who supports us and families who adopt.

On Sunday, March 22nd, Mayor John Cooper announced all non-essentials businesses shut down for 14 days. Like many small businesses, we run on very tight margins. The COVID-19 crisis is hitting us and our crew especially hard during these difficult times.

Our primary concern is our purrduction crew, who joyfully and dutifully come in to scoop litter boxes, feed cats, give medication, take meticulous notes on their behavior and well-being while acting as gracious hosts to all of our visitors.

Unfortunately, we cannot afford to continue to pay our crew while the doors are closed. We know for our small team, this income is imperative and are heartbroken to not be able to do more.

Other bills will still need to be paid, too. We can get by for a couple of weeks but anything beyond that will make an uncertain future for Mewsic Kitty re-opening when all this is over.

So far, the only relief being offered to small businesses are loans. We cannot afford to take on debt to get through this crisis.

The first portion of our fundraising goal will provide a small cushion to help our crew make up for lost wages during this time (up to half of our fundraising goal depending on how long we are closed.) The remainder and any additional funds raised will offset some of the bills that will continue to come in while we are closed such as rent and utilities plus makeup for some lost sales over the passed couple of weeks.

We truly appreciate your support and care during this time. We are grateful for all Mewsic Kitty means to our community and the cats we care for. We do understand many will not be able to give right now. We know your hearts are with us and are thinking of you, as well. We appreciate the thoughts and prayers, sharing this campaign, and all those who are practicing social distancing so we can get back to our regular lives sooner.

What about the cats?!

We anticipate this mandatory shut down will last longer than the 14 days announced by the Mayor today because it has lasted longer in other cities and countries.

We are doing our best to get all Mewsic Kitties in temporary foster homes during this time. Given this may last longer than two weeks, this is the best option to help them live enriching lives with plenty of people and family while we are closed. We will continue to care for any kitties atMewsic Kitty during this time, though we anticipate finding foster homes for all of them within the next week.
